Summer months are the best time for any home improvement projects as the weather conditions are just right, this can range from small repair works to major remodeling. In today’s article, I am going to give you my thoughts on the best home improvements to make during summer months ways and add value to it.
Remodel the Kitchen
If you’re going to remodel your kitchen I highly suggest that you remodel the entire kitchen. A lot of times people try to remodel the kitchen halfway and at the end of the day when you do sell your home a potential buyer will come into the property and think gosh I got to redo it myself. If you’re planning on staying in your home you just want to do a soft upgrade and not spend too much money. A couple of suggestions that I have are to change out the countertops for one but where you can save a lot of money is you can actually take your current cabinets and just have them repainted and it makes a world of difference and modernizes your house in a big way.
Add Lights to Your Home
Adding lights to your home I think is one of the most important things that you can possibly do; a lot of homes that were built say 10-15 years ago for today’s standards don’t have adequate light. So one thing that you can do is add can light to your home and it will change the entire feel of it, another thing that I highly suggest which is kind of making a comeback is skylights there’s no electric bill that goes along with it but it adds natural light to your home and that’s what most people would like to see.
Curb appeal is everything at home, it’s the first thing that people see when they drive up to visit you. A few tips that might be helpful are for one I would highly suggest fertilizing your lawn every spring it’s something that believe it or not a lot of people don’t think about as you’ve lived in your home for a few years and they’ll make a big difference. Also adding new vegetation like a few new trees and plants; different things like that will definitely change the feel of your home.
Stain Your Deck
If you have an existing deck absolutely make sure you stain it every two to three years or paint it but if you are going to paint make sure that you strip off the existing paint. A lot of people will paint over already existing paint, in the reality it might get you through the summer but it will start peeling on the other side. If you are looking at adding a new deck to your home one mistake that we see that people make is they make them too small, make sure that when you do add a deck that you make it for at least you know you can fit eight to twelve people on it so it doesn’t feel tight and cramped when you are trying to eat dinner.
Update Your Bathroom
Updating your bathrooms is very important as well and if you are going to update one bathroom make sure to update all the bathrooms and keep consistency throughout the bathrooms in regards to toilets countertops faucets and different things like that at the end of the day you’ll accomplish your goal and we’ll add quite a bit of value to your home.
Before starting any major home improvement project I’d suggest sitting down with a financial expert, that way you can go over your home improvement plans and discuss your financial situation and make your dreams become a reality. If these home improvements are done right, they can add significant value to a home.
